BankNewport Appoints Murray Charron Vice President, Senior Commercial Loan Officer

NEWPORT, R.I. (May 22, 2024) – BankNewport is pleased to announce the appointment of Murray Charron as vice president, senior commercial loan officer.

Charron brings more than 25 years of experience in commercial lending, client management, and strategic portfolio expansion to his new role at BankNewport.  His primary focus will be to drive the growth of the commercial loan portfolio, leveraging his knowledge of renewable energy and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) financing. These areas will be instrumental as BankNewport continues to explore and expand lending opportunities in these rapidly evolving sectors. He will collaborate with commercial lenders, cash management partners, branch managers, and residential mortgage originators across the Bank’s market area to support its efforts in achieving strategic goals.

Before joining BankNewport, Charron held the position of vice president, commercial lending at HarborOne Bank in Providence, Rhode Island, and served in other roles as senior vice president of other leading financial institutions in the Boston and southern New England markets.

A graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, Murray is a lifelong resident of Jamestown, Rhode Island, and a former board member, and remains actively involved with Adoption RI.
