JAMESTOWN, R.I. (May 22, 2008) – BankNewport President and CEO, Thomas W. Kelly and Vice President and Jamestown Branch Manager, Michael DeVito recently joined Jamestown Historical Society President, Rosemary Enright and Capital Campaign Co-Chairs, Anne Maxwell Livingston and John A. Murphy to view first hand the completed stone access ramp into the Jamestown Museum, located at 92 Narragansett Avenue. Museum accessibility was one of the primary projects identified by the Society in its $500,000 capital campaign. BankNewport extended a grant in the amount of $10,000 for the project, to ensure the Jamestown Museum is safe and accessible to all members of the community.

The goal of the Society’s yearlong capital campaign was to raise the necessary funding for extensive physical improvements to the Museum, including a heating system, insulation and environmental controls to protect the collection; cataloging and digitizing of the collections; and handicap accessibility into the facility. The Society exceeded their campaign goal, raising a total of $502,200, as well as in-kind support totaling over $18,000.
