HOPE VALLYEY, R.I. (August 28, 2007) – BankNewport President and CEO, Thomas W. Kelly and Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, Andrew C. Hewitt recently joined members of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America for a visit to Camp Yawgoog in Hope Valley, Rhode Island. BankNewport funded the purchase of eight MirroCraft row boats for Camp Yawgoog to expand the existing fleet of row boats used at the camp.

Annually over 8,000 Scouts and leaders from the Narragansett Council and New England attend Camp Yawgoog, the largest summer camp facility in southern New England. Weekly attendance at Camp Yawgoog, which this year is celebrating its 92nd season, is approximately 750 Scouts and leaders. Since the waterfront is one of the most popular areas of the camp, the additional row boats will assist with the demand as hundreds of scouts earn a variety of water-related merit badges throughout the summer.

The mission of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America is to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential.
